CALL TO ORDER

Wills called the meeting to order and welcomed everyone.
INTRODUCTIONS
All guests were introduced and welcomed.
Due to not having a quorum no action was taken on business items.
FINANCIAL REPORT
Don ten Bensel presented the financial report for the period ending
October 22, 2007 to those present.
OLD BUSINESS
Community Development
Jarrod McCarthy reported that the Comprehensive Economic Development
Strategy (CEDS) Report was submitted to the Economic Development
Administration. Others projects Jarrod mentioned that the CDBG
staff have been working on are CD-07 projects, Solid Waste
Management Plans, Airport Grants, One Georgia Grants, Local Law
Enforcement and Fire Services (LLEFS) Grants, and possible FY 08
CDBG projects.
Planning
Gerald Mixon reported that the Comprehensive Plan and the Service Delivery
Strategy (SDS) have been adopted by Dooly County. Gerald said that
staff are continuing to work on Dooly County=s
Solid Waste Management Plan and assisting Taylor County with their
Comprehensive Plan, Solid Waste Management Plan and the Service
Delivery Strategy. Gerald also reported that progress is being made
on the local update census addressing (LUCA).
Workforce Development
Janice West reported that the WIA staff have been busy working with
dislocated workers after the plant closing of Collins & Aikman.
Janice said that two more plants are expected to close in Crisp
County within the next month. Staff is continuing to work on
existing projects.
Revolving Loan Fund Activities
Sarah Walls reported of two loan closings in Crisp County and one in
Sumter Co. Sarah reported that staff is continuing to administer
existing loans.
Administration
Don ten Bensel reported that Merri Spence has been hired for the WIA
Specialist position to replace Carley Huguley who resigned September
20. Don said that we are continuing to search for an Historic
Preservation Planner and expect to hire someone by the November
board meeting.
NEW BUSINESS
Due to the small number in attendance at the Board meeting, the open
discussion for restructuring and redistricting Georgia=s
Regional Development Centers was postponed until the November meeting.
OTHER
There will be a town hall meeting with GA Dept. of Community Affairs
Commissioner Mike Beatty at 10:00am, Monday, November 5, at the Pope
Center, South GA Technical College.
Next Board Meeting
The next meeting of the Middle Flint Regional Development Center Board of
Directors is scheduled for Wednesday, November 28 at Windsor Hotel in
Americus.
Georgia Association of Regional Development Centers Annual Meeting
Don ten Bensel reminded the Board of the Georgia Association of Regional
Development Centers Annual Meeting at St. Simons Island scheduled for
November 7, 8, & 9. Don stated that all Middle Flint RDC Board Members
and area local elected officials are encouraged to attend.
